Molise

Molise - Monforte Historically, the Molise is identified with the ancient Sannio, since the Kingdom of Naples on the territory of Molise was included in three different Giustizieri, the Contado of Molise, Abruzzo and Citeriore Capitanata. In 1963 the Province of Campobasso region was proclaimed a separate, thus creating a further division of a territory with well-defined secular characteristics. Molise but the name appears in the central Middle Ages to identify a county belonging to the Norman family of de' Moulins.

From View:  National Museum of the Paleolithic: The Molise is a territory that was already populated in ancient times during the presitorica (more specifically in the Paleolithic) and then settled more abundantly in the Neolithic. In this city was in fact discovered the oldest layer of Paleolithic Europe.

Venafro Archaeological Museum: This museum is located in the province of Isernia and are kept very valuable pieces of archeology from local excavations.

Castle of de Capua: This castle is located Gambatesa in the province of Campobasso.
This sixteenth-century manor of the feudal type Serrone located on the hill was home of the family Di Capua:

Termoli: Molise town known as the famous seaside resort. E'formata from an ancient village that sits on a promontory and a new part which is also the core industry. In the center of the old town are the most important monuments such as the Cathedral (dedicated to St. Mary of the Purification).

The town enjoys an excellent location and has a beautiful beach and coastline bathed by clear water and excellent facilities. For these characteristics, Termoli is the seaside resort of the most important Molise.

Cuisine and Wines: In these places, the noodles are called macaroni and still are on the "guitar" and "diavolicchio" (pepper) is almost always present and the fried mixture reaches the size and variety of really great ingredients.
The dishes all have a great simplicity and reflect the products of the quiet countryside: the mutton, pork, beautiful vegetables, dairy products.
