From View: Pignano Pineta is an example of how to progress and live environment, function and fantasy. Grade: already inhabited in Roman times and perhaps functional port system (gradus = stop, outlet to the sea) of Aquileia, the place became important in the fifth century, when transformed into a fortress (castrum), became the refuge of the bishops of Aquileia during barbarian invasions. Since the beginning of the seventh century was the seat of a patriarchate, abolished in 1451 in favor of Venice.

On the central area of the Patriarchs rises majestically in the Ravenna style Duomo (Basilica di S. Eufemia).
