Abruzzo

Località in Abruzzo In this region are the highest peaks of the Apennines (except dell'Etna): Gran Sasso of Italy (2914 m) and La Maiella (2795 m). The main rivers descend to the Adriatic and the Aterno-Pescara and Sangro, in addition to the Liri that flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea.

From View:  The National Park of Abruzzo: The park has an area of 44,000 hectares and was established in 1923 to protect wild fauna and flora. The highest peak of the mountains of the park is Mount Morsicano (2253 m).

The National Park of Gran Sasso: Has an area of 148,935 hectares and is characterized by the Gran Sasso Massif and the Laga mountains.
The Regional Park Velino Sirente which is located in the province of L'Aquila.

Cuisine and Wines:  The cuisine of Abruzzo is characterized by the great use of red pepper and saffron that is exported worldwide. The most famous regional dish is "spaghetti alla chitarra, which take their name from the way it is produced pasta. The sauce is tomato whether it's that simple sauce sauce.

Inland there are many dishes based on legumes and vegetables but also meat such as lamb, rabbit precious and kid. There is also a wide selection of meats and cheeses including the famous "Burrelle".

On the coast you can also enjoy seafood specialties, including the famous soup, a fish soup very tasty. One of the sweets is the parrozzo that is made with almond flour and then coated with chocolate.

Among the wines are Trebbiano and Controguerra for whites and the famous Montepulciano d'Abruzzo for the reds with his typical red cherry and this also accompanied by "Cerasuolo".
